1Password + Claude: Secure AI Credential Access

1Password now integrates with Claude for secure credential access. This new feature allows Anthropic's chatbot to autofill logins without exposing credentials to AI models. The integration is part of 1Password's broader Unified Access platform. It enables AI agents to handle tasks like booking travel or managing online accounts on a user's behalf. This works using a "zero-exposure security framework." 1Password injects credentials directly at runtime, so the AI agent uses the login but never sees or stores the password. The integration supports the Claude browser extension, Cowork, and Claude Code. Each credential access requires explicit user consent. 1Password currently protects over 1.3 billion credentials for more than 180,000 businesses and over 1 million developers. This development matters because it sets a new standard for AI identity security, allowing AI to assist with tasks while protecting sensitive user data.
