Anthropic's Mythos AI Model: US Gov Lifts Export Block

The US government is now allowing Anthropic to release its powerful Mythos AI model to select companies and organizations. This comes after an earlier export block due to national security concerns. The Commerce Secretary stated that appropriate safeguards are now in place for trusted partners to access the Claude Mythos 5 Model. This permission does not extend to Fable, a less powerful version. Anthropic confirms they can redeploy Mythos 5 to a small group of cyber defenders and infrastructure providers. They are working to restore access quickly and continue discussions with the government to expand access and make Fable 5 generally available. Earlier this month, Anthropic had disabled customer access to both models to comply with a government order. This situation highlights the ongoing challenge of regulating rapidly advancing AI technology.
