Google Gemini AI: New Features for Android Devices

Google is bringing new AI features to Android, branded as Gemini Intelligence. These features will allow AI to complete tasks across different apps. For example, Gemini will be able to copy a grocery list from your notes and add items to a shopping cart. You can activate this by pressing your phone's power button and describing the task. The content on your screen will provide context for the AI. Google states Gemini will wait for your confirmation before completing a checkout. Gemini will also come to Android's Gboard keyboard with a feature called Rambler. This will transcribe your speech, remove filler words, and format it. Additionally, an auto-browse feature, previously experimental, is now coming to Android. This allows Gemini to browse the web and book appointments. In late June, Android devices will also get Gemini in Chrome, which can summarize content or answer questions about a webpage. Gemini will also be able to fill out forms using your personal details, but this is an opt-in feature. What's interesting is that you'll also be able to "vibe-code" your own Android widgets by describing them in natural language, like requesting a meal planning widget. These new AI-powered features will first roll out to the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices this summer, then to other Android devices. This means your Android phone could soon become much more capable with AI assistance.
