Jeppesen ForeFlight has unveiled its new aviation-centric AI engine, called Jeppesen ForeFlight Airflow. Airflow combines commercial and proprietary data with extensive aviation knowledge, including safety and certification expertise. It features an open architecture and is designed to be model agnostic. This allows customers to integrate their own AI agents or use third-party solutions. The company is already previewing its first product for General Aviation, the ForeFlight AI Connector. This tool links ForeFlight Mobile to a customer's OpenAI ChatGPT environment, letting users query AI for flight plans and refueling options. They plan to expand this to other AI applications like Google's Gemini. Later this year, Jeppesen ForeFlight Airflow will launch offerings for Commercial and Business aviation, with military capabilities to follow. The CEO states that in aviation, general AI mistakes can be costly and dangerous, emphasizing the need for specialized aviation intelligence. This development could change how AI is used across various aviation operations, offering more controlled and specialized applications.
