Microsoft AI Security Overhaul: Execs Replaced, AI Focus

Microsoft is reportedly reorganizing its cybersecurity business, led by Executive Vice President Hayete Gallot. This involves changes to senior leadership and engineering teams. What's interesting is this overhaul emphasizes artificial intelligence-led security products. Gallot, who reports directly to CEO Satya Nadella, has replaced several senior executives. The goal is to speed up Microsoft's AI-focused security roadmap. Products like Microsoft Security Copilot and AI-powered tools for detecting software vulnerabilities are priorities. The restructuring also included a reduction of hundreds of roles during recent layoffs. Gallot stated the company needs "clarity, conviction, and focus" to execute its plans. The entire industry is being reimagined, and companies must see the shift early and make hard choices. This restructuring follows Microsoft's plans to cut about 4,800 jobs, or 2.1 percent of its workforce, as part of an AI-led restructuring. The Xbox gaming business has been significantly affected, with around 3,200 employees impacted. Several senior executives have left the security organization, including Joy Chik and Shawn Bice. Bice has since joined Amazon Web Services. Gallot has also made new appointments, bringing back Microsoft veteran Naseem Tuffaha and hiring Rajesh Sundaram.
