OpenBind: AI Drug Discovery Accelerated by New Data & Model

A UK initiative called OpenBind has just released its first public dataset and AI model, a huge step for finding new medicines faster. They're making high-quality data and a predictive model, OpenBind v1, free for researchers everywhere. Here's the thing: while AI is great for predicting protein structures, drug discovery has been slow because of a lack of reliable experimental data. OpenBind is filling this gap. They've already generated 800 high-quality measurements in just seven months, a process that used to take years. This project is led by Diamond Light Source, with support from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
