DeepSeek V4: Open-Source AI Challenges ChatGPT Rivals

A Chinese artificial intelligence company, DeepSeek, has released a preview of its new model, DeepSeek V4. This open-source AI model is a key difference from its U.S. rivals. Two versions are available: DeepSeek-V4-Pro, a 1.6-trillion parameter model, and DeepSeek-V4-Flash, with 284-billion parameters. Users can access these models through chat.deepseek.com. DeepSeek states its new open model shows significant progress in agentic tasks and coding. They also report DeepSeek-V4 integrates with leading AI agents like Claude Code. DeepSeek also claims its new models achieve similar results to the latest frontier models from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. What's more, DeepSeek V4 is priced much lower than models from Gemini, ChatGPT, and Anthropic. This could significantly impact its adoption.
