DigiCert: 78% of Firms Face AI Security Incidents

Most organizations are experiencing security issues with artificial intelligence. A new report finds 78% of firms have faced an AI-related security incident or vulnerability. Only 21% report no such incidents. This comes as companies rapidly deploy AI. Three-quarters of organizations have deployed four or more AI-powered systems in the last six months. More than a third deployed over ten systems in that same period. However, visibility is not keeping up. Almost half of organizations lack centralized visibility into their AI systems and activity. Only 64% have even inventoried their AI systems. What's more, nearly half of respondents lack full visibility into how their own AI systems arrive at outcomes. Only 53% can fully trace AI decisions back to their models and data. This gap means companies struggle to govern their AI effectively, creating significant operational risk.
