GPT Live: OpenAI's Real-Time Voice for ChatGPT

OpenAI has launched GPT Live, a new real-time voice experience for ChatGPT that makes conversations feel more like talking to another person. This system listens and responds simultaneously, unlike older voice assistants that wait for you to finish speaking. GPT Live uses a full-duplex architecture. This means ChatGPT can respond naturally without awkward pauses and even use verbal acknowledgements while you're still talking. It can also pause naturally if you stop to think and handle interruptions without restarting the conversation. For complex requests, GPT Live seamlessly hands the task to GPT 5.5 in the background while keeping the conversation flowing. To use GPT Live, update your ChatGPT app on iOS or Android, or access it through ChatGPT.com. Then, launch ChatGPT and tap the Voice icon to start a conversation. You can speak naturally, interrupt, or pause anytime. GPT Live is rolling out globally on ChatGPT for iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com. Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers receive the full GPT Live 1 experience, while free users get a lighter version called GPT Live 1 mini.
