OpenAI Agentic AI Use Surges 2.5x: No Crypto Needed

OpenAI reports a 2.5 times surge in the usage of its agentic products in just one week. This jump follows the launch of GPT-5.5, which improved the agentic capabilities of tools like Codex and ChatGPT Work. These tools are designed to handle complex tasks with minimal human input. For example, usage of Codex by OpenAI employees reached 98%, and its use in research contexts increased 56 times in seven months. Requests for 8-hour autonomous tasks also rose tenfold. What's interesting is that this rapid adoption of agentic AI is happening without any involvement of blockchain technology or crypto tokens. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, did not mention crypto in his announcement. This matters because many crypto tokens base their value on the idea of AI agents needing to use blockchain for transactions. However, OpenAI is showing that agentic AI can scale quickly using existing cloud infrastructure, without needing a blockchain.
